Tails of Joy

Charlie is a big, boned well bred dog from German lines. Life started out good for Charlie. His family obviously loved him because he had a nice collar with his name and address etched on a metal tag which was riveted to his collar. Someone loved the magnificent Charlie so much, that they completely obedience trained him. He obviously had a good experience with people because he goes out of his way to greet each new person he meets. Then one day, Charlie's family moved away and left him behind. Neighbors realized after some time that the sad dog they could see from their second story window was getting thinner and thinner. He was starving in front of them. Together, the neighbors fed lonely Charlie for three weeks, but no one returned to the house. He was then taken to the animal shelter which was noisy and confusing for this older, gentle guy. A volunteer noticed the noble dog watching her from sad eyes. She bent down to talk to him through the chain-link. He got up and tried to give her his paw. That did it, she knew she had to help Charlie no matter what it took
We think Charlie is around 8 years old. He is in a boarding kennel, but one where he gets lots of love and extra helpings. His skeletal frame is starting to fill back out again. He will probably be around 90 pounds when he is the right weight. We can just imagine how handsome and regal he will look again soon. All you have to do is look at the people who are in the pictures with Charlie. He has something special to give back, they are so filled with love. Charlie brings that out in everyone who meets him. We still try calling the telephone number on Charlie's tags, the phone rings but no one answers. We would never give Charlie back, but we are just curious what could have happened. Even a nice boarding kennel is still a kennel and not where we want our special Charlie, so even if you could foster him until we found a forever home, Charlie would be grateful.
