War Dogs Remembered

War Dog Handlers Who Lost Their Dogs in Combat and want to Adopt a Westside German Shepherd Rescue of LA dog will be Offered a Discount on any of our Dogs.

We would also welcome War Dog Handler volunteers who would like to train some of our more challenging GSDs.

Annie, (pictured above) a Westside German Shepherd rescue dog, saved by Ann-Marie from the Pasadena Humane Society and placed by Robin, accompanied her dad, Jim Camp as he acted as Master of Ceremonies for the Vietnam Dog Handlers Association at the 4th Annual War Dog Memorial Remembrance celebrated on Presidents' Day weekend at the site of the nation's first War Dog Memorial located in front of the March Air Field Museum in Riverside, CA. Jim has been involved in legislation to protect current and future war dogs. He is also lobbying to have a US War Dog stamp created.

Over the course of our Nation's military history, more than a hundred thousand dogs of many different breeds faithfully served our country during WWI, WWII, The Korean War, The Vietnam War, The Persian Gulf War and The Peacekeeping Missions in Bosnia and Kosovo.

Even today, our U.S. War Dog Teams are currently being trained and deployed for service in the Wars against Terrorism in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Another organization, The National War Dog Memorial Project, was founded by Joe J. White whose life was saved by his German Shepherd, Ebony in Vietnam. He promises that the Project's mascot will always be a German Shepherd Dog. Many courageous dogs were left behind during the war ... a deed Joe is determined will never happen again. His motto is: "Gone, but not forgotten," and the organization's theme is: "Never Again!" Joe's dream is to create a bronze relief mural outside of the Arlington National Cemetery.
