Axel von Rose is a charming 7 year old German Shepherd. Sometimes he seems so sad, like he is thinking of the family who cared so poorly for him. Other times he seems he is looking in the distance like he sees something good. We have assured him that there are better people out there who can look past his poor coat and can see all the wonderful things he has to offer. We saw Axel in the shelter, on the side where all the dogs are slated for death. Axel knew where he was, he was curled in a little ball, squeezed in between Pit Bulls. He had given up. Axel didn’t lift his head when a volunteer stood in front of his cage; he stopped hoping anyone would pick him because of how he looked. No one could imagine that with a little food and a little time, he could be magnificent again. The volunteer bent down and talked soothingly to Axel, his eye brows raised and then he opened his eyes. He looked and was trying to comprehend what was happening. Then a kennel person came with a bunch of keys and the unbelievable was happening. The door was unlocked and he stood up! He was chosen after all, he was safe! He wasn’t going to die alone and unloved! Now we need you to make this story have a truly happy ending, our precious boy, our kind and loving fellow needs an equally kind and loving family, who will adore him for the rest of his life.
