Leo Von Lemgo

Leo von Lemgo is a stunning 3-year-old, 100-pound German Shepherd.  Because of a divorce, he was given up. His coat is black and silver, and he has the solid, straight back people love to see. His former mom said he looked forward to walks, car rides and jogging and hiking outings.  Mostly, however, he likes being with his family.  This housebroken boy will chase balls and play keep-away. He responds to the command “gentle” by carefully taking a treat from your hand and then giving you a wet, sloppy kiss in return. Leo is still learning his manners with other dogs so, for now, he will do best as the “only child” in your home or else paired with a tolerant female dog.  He was great with the 7-year-old in his family but tended to play somewhat roughly with other children, so Leo would need training/supervision in that regard. He can be a vocal guy, so no apartments/condos for him.  Currently Leo is very quiet at the rescue; he is missing his family so much that he lacks enthusiasm when he meets new people.  We notice, however, that when a familiar kennel tech approaches him, a spark lights in his eyes and there is the flicker of his former happy self.  Come to Westside to share your love and swear your loyalty to this special guy, who is homeless through no fault of his own.
